UKanDo Release 3.6.10

Release Notes

Theses a few Tweaks and Fixes as well as a number of Nice New Features from us in this release, also Jess has worked her normal magic on the Area Search Overhaul. But the biggest part for some people will be the LL updates.

The updates from the Lab include SLShare (Facebook integration), which is 100% Opt-in, and you can Opt-out at any time!

After looking around the interweb thingy I’m thinking that for every person who hates this feature there’s one out there who loves it (in the UK we call this the Marmite Phenomenon)!

So, I’m just going to put it out there so you Guys can work out which side of the fence to fall, Don't shoot the messenger!

To update to this latest version you will need to download then install it, for the time being there is NO Auto update feature in UKanDo!

UKanDo Release 3.6.8

Release Notes

It’s been a while since the last release so plenty of changes in this version!

Theses a shed load of fixes, tweaks etc. from the Lab including the fix for the latest ATI Driver update.
This release brings UKanDo up-to-date with the latest release viewer code.

Theses also plenty of new stuff from us, including a few user requested features! And a few I thought were a good idea at the time. I'm also trying a few tweaks to the skin, by using black text on the buttons and toned down the highlight blue a fair bit in the hope it’s a little easier on the eye!

It’s a fair size addition list so save me typing it up again here, checkout the Release Notes or the Viewer Releases section in the forum!

To update to this latest version you will need to download then install it, for the time being there is NO Auto update feature in UKanDo!

UKanDo Release 3.6.7

Release Notes

This Release is mostly Fixes, Tweaks and Updates from Linden Lab, these a fair few so I’m kinda going to say that if your using an earlier version of UKanDo, Now really would be a good time to upgrade to this latest version!!

So what’s new?
Jessica Wabbit has released a patch to show the Group and Role UUID's and includes a Copy button for each.
This feature comes in handy for scripters and can be found in the group's General and Roles panels. So once again a Thank You goes out to Jess for this!

I also had a request to make it easier to hide mouseover hover-tips from objects InWorld. The code for this was already in the viewer but commented out? This has now been moved to the Advanced menu and is working again.

And Finally!
I appear to have had a larger than average Oops moment with the previous release, more precisely the MiniMap overhaul!

It turns out that the original MiniMap enhancement code which the overhaul was based on was written by Kitty Barnett for Catznip Viewer, With additional work by Cinder Roxley before being adapted from Firestorm!

First off, I would like to send my apologies to both Kitty and Cinder, for me not spotting this!
And then send both these Young Ladies a really BIG Thank You for all their work on the MiniMap enhancements code!

To update to this latest version you will need to download then install it, for the time being there is NO Auto update feature in UKanDo!

UKanDo Forum Update!

I have added a new section to the forum and called it UKanDo How-to as that sorta sums it up!

Two questions have been asked a few times over the last few days, so the answers can be found there!

How do I enable RLV in UKanDo?

How do I use Local Textures?

Do feel free to join the Forum and ask any questions you have, I will try my best to answer them!
If any question pops up a few times I will add it to the How-to thread!

Ok some people don’t miss a trick!
There are a few buttons on the Materials panel screenshot that I have and you don’t yet!

Flip Texture checkboxes
Materials: Duplicate Values button – Syncs settings between Diffuse, Normal and Specular maps
And the Larger Colour box

These are in the Next Release!
I took these Snapshots while testing the Dev version. Oops Sorry LOL!

This release includes updates from both LL viewer-release 3.6.4 and Marine Kelley’s RLV

Plus a few fixes. The main one being that RLV is now disabled by default with the RLV menu hidden [Avatar-> Preferences-> Setup] to Enable!

UKanDo Release 3.6.3

Release Notes

Plenty of new features in this release plus updates from both LL viewer-release 3.6.3 and Marine Kelley’s RLV!

Plan for the next release is to not add anything new, these a lot of code brought over from the first version plus a fair amount of new features which weren't in it!

Although I test the code as I’m adding it, these bound to be some scenarios which I haven’t thought of, so as time allows I will spend it testing as much as I can.

Please do add anything you find to the Issue Tracker! You don’t need to sign up and can remain anonymous if you wish!

Other Platforms?

I'm starting to get InWorld IM’s and Contact Form emails asking the same question about other platforms.
It’s also been asked in the Forum so I've given a full answer there. Check it out!

The short answer is: Sorry Guys but although it would be great to be able to offer Mac and Linux versions, Windows is the best I can do for the foreseeable!

UKanDo is already SSA compatible!

There is no need to update so please ignore the warning on the logon screen!

If you do click on the link on the logon screen that says “Click here to update your viewer”, you will download the Standard Second Life™ viewer by Linden Lab™, not UKanDo Viewer.

UKanDo Release 3.6.2

Ok UKanDo has now moved on enough from the standard release viewer to be different. There is still a lot more to add, but now is as good a time as any to let it out.
It works, its stable and is SSA enabled! so why not!

To those of you who have used UKanDo before, we're getting there, it's Déjà vu all over again right!

Download link is on the download page, along with a link to the release notes, or just check the features page.

Anyone interested in what’s in the next release can keep up by checking the UKanDo Development Repo as everything is tested in that before finding its way to the Release version!

Update #5

OK the fun starts!
Some of the testers have found that RLV disabled disables a few unexpected other things?
Also some of you who don’t use RLV don’t want to see the menu in the top toolbar!

I have RLV enabled by default again. If you don’t wear or use any RLV scripted objects RLV being enabled will have no effect on you!

I have also added the option to easy show or hide the RLV menus so if you’re not using RLV you can hide the menu, if you are using RLV you can show or hide the RLV menu that’s up to you!

Good News!
So far that’s the only problem found which is a Bonus! So let’s see how it goes now?

Update #4

Returned to Plan A!

Now re-skinned to use the default skin from UKanDo 1, I will add the other 2 skins later.
The LL auto updater has also been removed!

I'm now at that happy place - A rebranded rebadged standard viewer with the added bonus of already having added RLV.

B4 I add a download page these a few things I want to add to get it to a point that I want to use it again, so will make a start on that over the next few days.

Those who are testing it for me, it’s in Dropbox! The others who want to use UKanDo again will have to wait a bit longer, Sorry (-ish)!

Update #3

Plan CPut of re-skinning again!

Today Linden Lab released the Materials update in viewer-release. I have wanted to play with this for a while now so thoughts are I'll merge it into UKanDo now (You know what they say - All work makes Connor a geek)! So I'm going to play a while.

The latest updates from viewer-release have been merged into UKanDo Dev. After the normal merge fixes which were no way as bad as I was expecting! It builds, logs in and stays in! So far nothing (yet) jumps out at me as busted! Which is always a bonus!

I have started work on re-skinning but it’s no way anywhere near ready, so for now it’s on a back-burner for a few days!

Update #2

Plan BAdd RLV Before re-skinning UKanDo.

I was asked more than a few times, if I could add RLV to the first viewer, the answer was always “I'll look into it”!
Ok now I have! I noticed that Marine Kelley developer of RLV Viewer had included some changes to the skin as well.

To my way of thinking, now would be a good time to merge the code from RLV Viewer into UKanDo! that way I only need to redo the skin once.
Also it’s probably a good idea to do it before I make too many changes to my code, as on first look RLV Viewer is not too far away from the viewer-release code as to make merging it easier while my code is the same!

I know those of you that wanted RLV added to UKanDo will now join me in saying a really big "Thank You!" to Marine Kelley for all the hard work she has put into the code for RLV, and for licensing it in such a way as to allow her code to be used in other Viewers!

Update #1

OK, the rebranding and rebadging is now done (apart from the bits I’m bound to have missed and will find over the coming months)!?

Next on the To-Do list is to bring the skin from the old viewer into the new one.
I’m hoping to make a start on this over the next few days? Once this is done, there are a few other things that need sorting, the first that comes to mind is the LL Updater which needs to be disabled then removed once I work out what it will break?

If you want to keep up with the code before the next update you can follow it in the Dev Repo Here.

And Finally... MP3 streaming has now been sorted!
After days of total failure, trying to get fmodEX to build on my machine, which clearly has something not installed on it that it needs?
Lance Corrimal (Developer of the Dolphin Viewer) has given the OK to use his built packages, so a big Thanx Mate goes out to Lance!

Greetings and Salutations!

Unlike the first version this NEW version of the UKanDo Viewer is solely for use within Second Life™ and is being totally rebuilt from the ground up with the latest LL viewer-release code as the starting point.

Most of the gadgets from the first version will be added along the way, and will include a few new ones that BlackRose Dayafter likes the sound of!

The code is on my machine and being worked on! As for when the first release will be ready? well, your guess is as good as mine! I'm doing what I can, when I can, as time allows! Hopefully it won't be too long, but time will tell! As I get closer to adding a working downloadable viewer it will be posted here.

For those who are interested, and wish to follow the code, checkout the Source Tracker. I won't be pushing  to the repo as often as i use to, and not until I'm 100% happy with that commit (as I hate having to back-out of a push) so although it might look like I'm not doing much! There may be a little more going on in the background than you think (Then again, there might not be)!
